Western Disposal recently launched The Diversion Challenge, a community-wide effort to increase the composting and recycling habits of Boulder residents. Creative Coop produced two engagement videos, one selling the story of the challenge, and one highlighting the mobile app they created just for the initiative. Both videos played at BIFF this year.

Kids’ Filmmaking Camp

Creative Coop works with a lot of local charities and nonprofits on outreach programmes. This summer, we are hosting two filmmaking camps for kids: one in Centennial and one in Louisville.

COLORADO SCHOOL OF ACTING – Centennial

Kids ranging from age 10 to 18 will have a chance to participate in every phase of the filmmaking process. They will get a chance to write, act, shoot, and edit a collectively created short film – and even earn official IMDb credit.

This camp starts June 4th and ends June 22nd. Details can be found at the Colorado School of Acting’s website.

ART UNDERGROUND – Louisville

This production-based, one-week camp is for students 10–13 and 14–18, and will focus on filmmaking techniques and practises used on real Hollywood sets. Kids will get experience in the following areas:

screenwriting
storyboarding
lighting
camerawork
directing
digital editing
colour correction
audio mixing
compression and distribution

The camp runs from July 16th to the 20th, with the week culminating in a 3-minute film to be shown to parents and the public.

Crowdfunding Seminar

Creative Coop owner, Richard Fleming, spoke at the Boulder County Arts Alliance Crowdfunding seminar – held at the Boulder Library. The presentation, which lasted two hours, was an in-depth look at how artists can learn to raise money using an existing network, as well as learning tricks to expanding their circle of possible benefactors.
